BBK announced its new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy that reinforces the Bank's support to the community in line with its heritage of giving back to the citizens of Kingdom of Bahrain while adopting the sustainable development goals (SDGs)
This new strategy aims at increasing the sustainable effect of the contributions of the Bank benefitting the various segments of the community through a more effective support plan that reflects the needs of the people and aligned with the Kingdom's vision.
BBK Group Chief Executive, Dr. AbdulRahman Ali Saif, highlighted that the Bank's new CSR strategy will be focusing on one of the most pressing issues within the Bahraini society, and will be providing the necessary support to fill the needs that arise, through a yearly programme of specific initiatives, all under the direct supervision of the Bank's management.
"The general framework of BBK's corporate social responsibility includes providing the utmost priority to its employees with regards to training them and developing their skills. The Bank is also proceeding with its efforts to digitize its financial and banking operations while providing innovative solutions and creative ideas to ensure sustainability, and enhance its role in economic and social development." explained Dr. Saif.
"Reference to this year's strategy, BBK will be directing its support towards Education and Training, through various educational programmes targeting hundreds of the Bahrainis youth in cooperation with prestigious international academies.
"As such, I am pleased to announce launching two initiatives for our students. The first one for 200 Bahraini high school 2020 graduates, from both public and private schools, offering them free one year membership for unlimited access to online courses from the American Udemy Academy, a professional online educational platform with abundant educational, creative, and training content. Bahraini female students will receive 50% of the available memberships," he added.
"The second initiative is a 1 month training programme targeting the age group between 17 and 19 years, by one of the best world's expert, T.J Walker, specialized in training the youth and the professional alike, and improving their skills in several areas such as communication, public speaking and self-development. Mr. Walker trained a broad range of Countries' Presidents, Ministers, and Senior Officials around the world. The initiative aims to train 200 male and female students through Zoom app directly from the United States of America."
BBK Group Chief Human Resources & Administration Officer, Hassaan Mohammed Burshaid, commenting on BBK's news CSR strategy and focus for the year, said "Investing in improving the capabilities and skills of Bahraini youth is an investment for Bahrain's future. Education and Training has been the area of focus for this year as we believe in the Bahraini youth and their ability to excel. The two initiatives come as a continuity to the numerous initiatives that the Bank provides support to such as The Crown Prince International Scholarship, Isa bin Salman Educational Charitable Fund, the Computer Laboratory in the University of Bahrain and the training programme we recently launched for the journalists in the field of banking and finance.
"We are proud of our longstanding heritage of support towards the community and we take it as our responsibility to spread the culture of Corporate Social Responsibility. Through these 2 initiatives, we also hope to set an example for the Bahraini youth who will receive the bank's support in the field of education and training and in return, they will carry their own social responsibility towards their community and the Kingdom," Mr. Hassaan concluded.
