Arab exports to Brazil up 11% in 2012

(MENAFN) The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce announced that last year, trade between Brazil and Arab states rose by 3.26 percent to USD26 billion, compared with USD25.11 billion in 2011, reported Arabian Business.

The chamber added that exports from Arab countries to Brazil grew by 11 percent to USD11.10 billion from USD9.98 billion, whereas imports from the Latin American country stood at USD14.83 billion.

Arab states’ main exports to Brazil consisted of fuels, with USD9.11 billion, followed by fertilizers at USD1.32 billion and salt/sulphur at USD180 million.

Meanwhile, Arab countries’ purchases from Brazil comprised sugars, at USD4.24 billion, meat at USD3.93 billion and ores at USD2.44 billion.

It is worth noting that Brazil’s imports from Lebanon soared by 491 percent, and surged by 214 percent and 148 percent from Qatar and Kuwait, respectively.
