(MENAFN) The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s director-general, Hamad Buamim, stated that by 2015, the number of tourists that would arrive to the emirate is expected to reach 15 million, reported Khaleej Times.
Buamim said that by that time, the hotel rooms’ capacity in Dubai is set to exceed 100,000.
He added that several factors play a key role in boosting the number of visitors to the emirate, including the number of conferences that take place in Dubai due to its strategic location, the booming exhibitions sector and the growth of low-budget carriers.
The director-general noted that in 2012, more than 10 million tourists visited Dubai, representing an increase of 9.3 percent from 2011, while guest nights climbed by 14 percent to 37.4 million.
It is worth noting that in 2012, revenue of hotel and hotel apartments in Dubai went up by 17.9 percent to USD5.12 billion.
