(MENAFN) Dubai’s eGovernment’s Director-General, Ahmed bin Humaidan, said that the emirate’s ePay gateway generated USD1 billion in 2011, with a rise of 49 percent from 2010’s USD699 million, reported Emirates 24/7.
Bin Humaidan added that the number of transactions made in 2011 through the e-pay, which is a secure and reliable portal for Dubai customers to electronically pay for government services, exceeded 2.883 million, whereas they reached 1.888 million a year earlier.
He also said that last year, credit card option ranked first among customers, with related transactions growing to nearly USD898 million out of the total amounts collected, on the other hand, direct debit accounted for 522, 815 transactions over 54, 538 transactions in 2010.
It is worth noting that in terms of amounts collected, the main 3 departments were Dubai Customs, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), whereas in terms of number of transactions, DHA ranked first, followed by DEWA and the Roads and Transport Authority.
