Hilton plans to open second hotel in Iraq’s Kurdistan

25 Jul 2012

(MENAFN) Hilton Worldwide signed a deal with Mihtab Group to develop its second hotel in Erbil, Iraq’s Kurdistan region, Arabian Business reported.

The company said it seeks to benefit from the growing demand for leisure and business in Kurdistan.

The 300-room Hilton Erbil Hotel & Spa is expected to be completed in 2016, the hotel operator added.

Hilton’s move forms part of a growing number of US hotel operators and developers looking to benefit from businesses expansion and an eventual pickup in leisure travel to the region.

Hilton, which is currently developing a 200-room Hilton DoubleTree Suites in Erbil, is increasing the number of properties in the Middle East to tap into the growing demand for business travel and tourism in the region.
