(MENAFN) UK-based engineering and project management AMEC has won a USD528 million project management consultancy contract by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) for new Al Zour refinery, Arabian Business reported.
The refinery project, expected to be completed in 2018, is poised to be the largest in the Middle East and will increase Kuwait’s refinery capacity by 615,000 barrels per day (bpd).
The contract is expected to create around 300 new jobs for AMEC, the company said in a statement.
Al Zour refinery will be a key part of Kuwait’s long term strategy, producing cleaner fuels to meet its electrical power generation growth and demand.
