(MENAFN) Qatar Airways is now fully owned by the Qatari government as the country”s sovereign fund purchased the last 50 percent stake from Qatar”s former prime minister and other shareholders, according to Arab News.
Qatar Airways” chief executive officer Akbar Al-Baker said: “We became fully government owned in July last year.”
Al-Baker said half of the airline had previously been owned by Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani, who was also the former foreign minister, and some shareholders.
The purchase amount was not mentioned.
