(MENAFN) Qatar Airways’ CEO, Akbar Al Baker, stated that starting March 19th, the carrier would begin its service to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province in Southwest China, reported Arabian Business.
Al Baker said that Qatar Airways would launch 3 weekly flights to the city, the carrier’s sixth gateway in the Asian country.
He noted that the new service would bring the total weekly flights to China to 41 from the current 38 operated from Doha to Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing.
The CEO said that an Airbus A330 will be operated on the Doha-Chengdu route.
It is worth noting that next year; the airline would launch services to Gassim in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Najaf in Iraq, Salalah in Oman, Phnom Penh in Cambodia and US Chicago.
