(MENAFN) Qatar’s Al Jazeera director general, Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, stated that the media giant will introduce a news channel in the UK, reported Arabian Business.
Sheikh Ahmed added that Al Jazeera also plans to launch a French-language channel, in order to link people and countries with different cultures.
The director general noted that the UK channel will broadcast for 5 hours during prime time as a cut-in UK content aired on the media firm’s English channel.
It is worth noting that Al Jazeera, which in January bought Al Gore’s US cable channel Current TV for USD500 million, launched Al Jazeera Balkan in 2011 in Sarajevo and is preparing to open Al Jazeera Turkish.
