(MENAFN) The investment arm of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), Qatar Holding, has become the full owner of the Qatar Exchange, The Peninsula Qatar reported.
Qatar Holding purchased NYSE Euronexts 12 percent stake making it the owner the Qatari bourse. However, cooperation between QE and NYSE Euronext is to continue in fields including technology and expertise sharing.
In 2009, QIA and NYSE signed an agreement to improve QE and make it a leading exchange. Under that agreement, QIA held 80 percent of QE and NYSE the remaining 20 percent.
Later in 2012, the two companies signed another agreement giving QIA 88 percent of QE and 12 percent to NYSE.
CEO of QE said: “Over a period of more than four years of strategic partnership with NYSE Euronext, QE has achieved significant progress and made remarkable achievements in terms of developing infrastructure and systems and the diversification of investment tools and services provided to investors.”
