(MENAFN) Qatar Petroleum International (QPI) CEO, Nasser al-Jaidah, stated that the company hopes to extend its cooperation with UK’s Centrica in North America, reported Arabian Business.
Al-Jaidah said that extending the deal between the two firms, who in 2011 agreed to acquire assets around the world together, will cover the purchase of more gas or oil or tight oil resources across the continent.
In April, the two firms announced that they would pay USD986.7 million to acquire Suncor Energy Inc’s gas business in Canada, however, according to Jaidah, the Canadian assets do not generate enough gas to merit establishing an LNG export terminal.
The CEO noted that the two companies are boosting production from those fields and acquiring more producing assets to begin exports from Canada.
