(MENAFN) Mowasalat’s chairman and managing director, Jassim Saif Al Sulaiti, sated that the Qatari company would establish a bus assembly plant in Oman, reported Times of Oman.
Al Sulaiti said that the plant will have an annual capacity to assemble 2,000 buses that would be shipped to GCC and Arab countries.
He added that on annual basis, Qatar’s national transport firm will develop between 2-3 new models; nevertheless, it doesn’t have plans to assemble buses locally on a large scale.
Al Sulaiti noted that Mowasalat is in the final phase of preparations to set up the facility in Oman, and in later phase, it plans to start bus manufacturing.
It is worth noting that assembling buses locally is more cost-effective compared to importing buses from overseas.
