25 Nov 2012

(MENAFN) Qatar Friendship Fund (QFF) is set to inject USD19 million in five projects to boost child education, healthcare and fisheries in Japan, Arabian Business reported.

The funding is part of a USD100 million-rehabilitation package Qatar has pledged after the devastating tsunami last year.

The projects include a student city in Sendai and Iwaki and a community revitalisation initiative to foster sports, culture exchange, and childcare facilities to those in need.

A third project will include the support and repair of six institutions for handicapped people in Fukushima, and the support of the fisheries industry in Kamaishi City.

In October, its first project, Maskar, a USD23 million multi-functional fishery processing plant was opened in Onagawa, Miyagi prefecture.
