(MENAFN) Etisalat chief sales officer, Ayman Eldessouky, announced that as part of its campaign to compel users to re-register SIM cards, the UAE telco has cut off 1.3 million mobile lines, reported Arabian Business.
Eldessouky said that move comes in accordance with the country’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) instructions to force users to re-register their S cards.
He added that registration would ensure that no identity is stolen or misused.
It is worth noting that customers, who have received an SMS message from Etisalat telling them to re-register at an Etisalat outlet, have until the 16th of the current month to re-register, or their mobile phone lines will be disconnected.
