(MENAFN) The World Trade Organization (WTO) Secretariat’s recent report shows that in 2011, the UAE exported USD285 billion in merchandise trade, reported Arab News.
The figure places the country in the 20th position globally, beating several countries, including Australia, Brazil, Switzerland and Sweden.
The country’s exports comprised 1.6 percent of the world’s total, which last year stood at USD18.22 trillion of merchandise trade.
On the other hand, the country was ranked as the world’s 25th importer in merchandise trade, with its imports of merchandise reaching USD205 billion in the year, representing 1.1 percent of the world’s imports of USD18.38 trillion, also surpassing many countries, including Austria, Malaysia and Sweden.
