(MENAFN) Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) governor, Abdullah Al Darrab, stated that Saudi has warned WhatsApp that it will be blocked in the kingdom if it does not comply with local regulations, reported Arabian Business.
Al Darrab also said that in case the instant messaging software fails to comply with the regulations, it will be blocked before Ramadan, which starts on the 9th of July according to estimates.
It is worth noting that the Saudi government blocked another communications application, Viber, which uses the internet to send free messages and make free calls early July.
