(MENAFN) Kuwait Banking Association’s secretary general, Hamad Ali Al-Hasawi, stated that forty percent of the country’s work force in the public sector is uncalled for, reported Arabian Business.
Al-Hasawi described the public sector as “bloated”. He elaborated saying that 94 percent of working Kuwaitis occupy positions in the public sector, while a mere 3 percent of working Kuwaitis work in the private sector.
The secretary general added that the country has been “handing out” jobs to nationals and that must stop as, if things remain the same, the country would be facing its first deficit in nearly 20 years by 2017.
