(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi International Airport has registered a 12.2 percent increase in passenger traffic for May when compared to the same period last year, Gulf News reported.
Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) in its monthly traffic report said the top five destinations – Manila, London, Doha, Bangkok and Bahrain – together recorded a passenger total of 159,609, or 19.2 percent of all passengers travelling through Abu Dhabi International Airport in May.
The cargo movements too showed a strong 19.4 percent rise for the same period, while the airport recorded a 12.4 percent lift in aircraft movements, according to ADAC, which is responsible for operation and management of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain airports.
Manila took the top spot for the first time, followed by London and Doha in third. Bangkok, affected by the recent political unrest, dropped to fourth place, leaving Bahrain in fifth place, he added.
