(MENAFN) Director General of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), Mubarak Al Muhairi, said that the number of clients in the emirate’s hotels and hotel apartments hit 1.81 million in 2010, thus exceeding Abu Dhabi’s target by eight percent, reported Gulf News.
Al Muhairi said that ADTA believes the reason behind this strong performance is significant boost of the destination’s product base. The expansion also caused the average length of stay to increase to 2.83 nights.
Al Muhairi added that the new product base includes providing new leisure products such as Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, new golf courses, the Yas Island Show Weekends, the emirate’s steady international events and the launch of new MICE events, such as World Green Tourism Abu Dhabi.
Al Muhairi said that, even though the hotel guest performance improved in 2010, revenue did not change from a total of $1.15 billion compared to a year before.
