(MENAFN) The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) said that the number of newly registered construction companies in 2011 reached 893, reported Gulf News.
The department added that in the period, the number of renewed licenses surged by 30 percent from 2010’s 623 to 813, whereas the number of modified licenses reached 26.
It also said that in November 2010, the Contractors and Consultants Classification, and Engineers Registration Office of the ADDED applied new system, adding that the total number of classified and unclassified contracting firms in the capital was 6,123, while the number of firms classified by the new system reached 358.
ADDED said that in 2011, the Contractors Classification Office began the re-organization and restructuring of the activities of contractors, consultants and engineers in order to keep pace with developments in the emirate, mainly in the construction sector.
It is worth noting that 42 engineering consulting offices were classified in Abu Dhabi since the launch of the new system, while the number of registered and classified engineering consulting offices reached to 684.
