(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi is seeking to boost the number of Russian and Eastern European hotel guests in the emirate, Arabian Business reported.
The oil-rich emirate is sending a delegation of 16 representatives from the tourism industry to Russia next week in a roadshow.
The Leisure Moscow delegation, headed by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), includes hotels and resorts, Etihad Airways, inbound tour operators and destination management companies.
The visit is part of TCA Abu Dhabi initiatives undertaken this month to boost increased response from the Russian and CIS markets. Others include roadshows taking in Kiev in the Ukraine and Almaty, Kazakhstan.
According to the latest figures Russian hotel and resort guests increased 38 percent to 10,061 during the seven months to July compared to a year earlier.
Together they accounted for some 58,114 guest nights, a rise of 42 percent over the same comparative period.
Russians’ air access to Abu Dhabi has improved during the last seven months, helped by Etihad Airways’ daily service from Moscow and Russia’s TransAero initiating twice-weekly, non-stop flights for tour operator bookings to Abu Dhabi.
