(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi will double its recent investment in desalination by 2030 in order to avoid a water lack, while rising development will be the main substance to increase clean water.
Furthermore, the country needs to double the production of existing desalination, due to the increase in development and population, while the GCC committed more than USD 300bn.
Accordingly, half of the emirate’s consumed drinking water comes from desalination, and freshwater need is predicted to grow across the country by 30 percent by 2030.
In addition, the emirate could save almost USD 94mn yearly after 2020, if 15 percent of Abu Dhabi’s new desalination capability is met by energy-efficient technologies.
