(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi International Airport’s number of passengers increased by 21.7 this July compared to the same month last year when nearly 1.4 million used the airport to reach more than 1.7 million passengers this July, Gulf News reported.
The top five destinations from the airport were London Heathrow, Doha, Jeddah, Bangkok and Manila, accounting for 15 percent of all traffic.
Meanwhile, the number of aircraft landing and taking off at the airport was up 16.1 percent to 13.188 compared to 11.355 landings and takeoffs at the airport in July 2013.
Cargo volumes also rose in July to reach 67.456 tones being handled, registering a 5.7 percent increase compared to the 63,794 tons handled a year earlier.
Over the first seven months of the year, the number of passengers using the airport has increased by 19.7 percent to reach 11.1 million. While aircraft movements for the same period were up 13.9 percent to 87.050 and cargo volumes handled rose 14.3 percent to 445.341 tons.
