(MENAFN) Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’s (TRA) director for technical and operations, Mohammad Mahmoud, said that in March next year, the authority would release frequencies for high-speed 4-generation (4G) telecoms networks, reported Gulf News.
Mahmoud added that starting September, the country would invite bids to offer long-term evolution (LTE), and offers would be received by January 2013.
On the other hand, he said that the launch of LTE services in Bahrain would depend on whether licenses were awarded to new or existing Bahraini operators.
It is worth noting that at the current time, the frequencies earmarked for LTE are assigned to government bodies.
