(MENAFN) The Chairman of Bahrain-based BioME said that the company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Development Authority (MIDA) and the Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation to develop a knowledge-based Bio-economy in the country, BNA reported.
The knowledge-based Bio-economy will integrate biotechnology knowledge and applications across all sectors and involves agriculture, industrial processing, environmental applications as well as community development.
BioME plans to develop in Malaysia a global example of sustainability based on closed material cycles and the generation and use of renewable biomass for the production of high value added products targeting the local, regional and global markets.
BioME managing director said that the next important step towards realizing the envisaged project will be the selection of the best suitable location on Malaysian territory, a process already initiated.
