(MENAFN) FIFA ethics committee deputy chairman, Petrus Damaseb, stated that Qatari football administrator Mohamed Bin Hammam was found guilty of attempted bribery and thus was banned from football for life, reported BBC.
Damaseb also said that the ban meant that the former FIFA presidential candidate was unable to be involved in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level for life.
The chairman explained that Bin Hammam, joined by former FIFA vice-president Jack Warner, was involved in the bribery of four Caribbean Football Union (CFU) associations to gain their support for his FIFA presidency campaign.
It is worth noting that Mohamed bin Hammam, born 8 May 1949, was president of the Asian Football Confederation from 1 August 2002 to 14 June 2011, and a member of FIFA’s 24-man executive committee for the past 15 years.
