(MENAFN) The Walt Disney Company announced that it is currently in talks about building a theme park in Egypt, which would be its first venture in the Middle East, Arabian Business reported.
“There are discussions going on between Disney International to build in Egypt its first Disney Park in the Middle East, similar to Disney France,” Egypt’s investment said.
Egypt’s Ministry of Investments said that having such a huge company as Disney showing interest in building a theme park in Egypt would send a strong message to foreign investors that the country is safe and stable after a period of political unrest.
The country hopes that such a project will help revive the country’s tourism sector, which has been declining following the unrest in the country.
Walt Disney has been previously linked to the Dubai Land development for its first theme park in the Middle East, but it did not materialize.
