Doha Festival City building works begin

(MENAFN) Bawabat Al-Shamal Real Estate Company (BASREC) said that construction works on Doha Festival City has started, Arabian Business reported.
BASREC said the USD1.65 billion project was a joint venture with Al-Futtaim Group, Qatar Islamic Bank and other investors, in addition to other leading international and local brands which are expressing strong interest in being part of Doha Festival City.
The mega project is one of the first to launch, following Qatar’s successful bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2022 tournament.
Some of the main retail tenants already announced their interest in the project, expected to be completed in 2014, including IKEA, Toys R Us, Marks & Spencer and Intersport.
