(MENAFN) Dubai International Airport announced an expansion plan to spend over USD7.8 billion by 2021 to become the world’s biggest airport, Arabian Business reported.
By 2015, Dubai International Airport plans to expand by 675,000 square meters of floor space and increase the number of gates by 60 percent. The addition is twice the size of Heathrow International Airport’s most recent expansion.
The expansion plan includes two new concorses: Concourse 3, which would be opened in 2012, and Concourse 4, for use by international airlines, in 2015. In 2013, the airport also expects to complete an addition to Terminal 2.
The plan also includes a new baggage center and taxiway.
