(MENAFN) The CEO of Dubai Airports, Paul Griffiths, said that, after gaining the regulatory approval of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority’s (GCAA), Dubai Airports is finally able to start passenger operations at the Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC), reported Gulf News.
Griffiths said that the company received the approval of GCAA after the aviation regulator closely examined the safety, security and standard operational procedures and airport inspections.
DWC also received an aerodrome certificate for helicopter operations and passenger aircraft operations with up to sixty persons on board including passengers and crew.
The CEO said that DWC had launched cargo services in June 2010. Dubai Airports expects operations at DWC to amount to between 25 and 40 per day by the end of 2011, Griffiths said.
