(MENAFN) Dubai Airports’ vice president of Cargo & Logistics, Ali Angizeh, stated that cargo volume at Dubai World Central (DWC), the emirate’s second airport, hiked 120 percent in the third quarter, reported Arabian Business.
Angizeh said that in the period, cargo volumes grew to 58,423 tons, up from 26,570 tons in 2011’s same period.
Cargo soared by 178 percent in the year to date, to 164,757 tons, from 59,204 tons in last year’s January-September period.
Air traffic movements in the third quarter surged 42 percent to 4,097, compared with 2,877 movements in the same period a year earlier, whereas year to date, air movements hiked 114 percent to 11,571 from 5,403.
It is worth noting that at the current time, DWC has around 36 airlines signed up and operating.
