(MENAFN) Dubai Airports’ chief executive, Paul Griffiths, stated that in June, passenger numbers at Dubai International Airport grew 16 percent from 2011’s same period to 4.71 million passengers, reported Arabian Business.
Griffiths said that the figure was driven by a rise in the number of Middle East passengers.
He added that cargo traffic rose 6.3 percent from last year, reaching 194,992 tons, and compared with a decline of 0.1 percent in May.
The chief executive noted that in June 2011, the airport handled 4.07 million passengers.
It is worth noting that in the January-June period, passenger traffic at Dubai International jumped 13.7 percent to 27.93 million, whereas cargo volume went up 2.2 percent to 1.09 million tons.
