Dubai’s du probed over 4G network claims

15 Oct 2011

(MENAFN) UAE’s TRA started an investigation into du’s claims about its plans to run a 4G network, reported Arabian Business.

TRA’s step came after Etisalat lately filed a complaint against du over its statement claiming its commercial service, HSPA+ falls under 4G services.

du’s CEO Farid Faraidooni told Arabian Business that its HSPA+ service is 4G but, adding that Etisalat was the first to introduce Long Term Evolution (LTE) services.

Etisalat unveiled earlier this month its plans to launch 4G services by the end of the year, and claimed to be the first to offer a fourth generation service.

Fourth generation networks will be able to deliver high speed data downloads including high definition (HD) broadband and mobile TV services.
