(MENAFN) Egyptian officials announced that Egypt launched a tender competition to choose firms to build solar plant of 250 mega-watts in the Gulf of Suez.
While six firms drawn interest in the tender, the head of the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) Mohamed El-Khayat said that they are studying the offers.
Egyptian government was studying measures to diversify energy sources to face increasing demand.
Earlier, Egypt had announced plans to develop renewable energy sources, targeting 4.3 gigawatts of wind and solar projects to be installed over the three years period.
