(MENAFN) Increased use of electronic payment products, like credit, debit and prepaid cards, added USD 296bn to GDP in Qatar, while raising households of 0.18 percent.
Furthermore, the study analyzed the impact of electronic payments on economic growth across 70 countries between 2011 and 2015.
In addition, the equivalent is estimated to 2.6mn new jobs which were created on average, annually over the 5 year period due to increase use of elect payments.
“Electronic payments are a major contributor to consumption, increased production, economic growth and employment creation,” said Chief Economist.
