(MENAFN) Emirates Airlines announced it is currently in talks with Kazakhstan’s Air Astana to discuss signing a code-share agreement, Gulf News reported.
Air Astana, which is also in code-share talks with Europe’s Air France-KLM and Lufthansa, said that it is very keen to expand their relationship with Emirates Airlines.
The carrier, which codeshares with Etihad Airways, also announced that they are currently promoting the re-launch of their Almaty-Dubai route, which was revived after its cancellation in 2010 following an air traffic rights spat between Dubai and Kazakhstan which resulted in the carrier moving its services to Abu Dhabi.
The airline, which is on track to an increase in its net profit for the tenth consecutive time, said that this increase has been attributed to its transit traffic, which has grown by 120 percent during the January-October period, the decline in oil price during the second half of this year, and despite the devaluation of the Kazakhstan currency in February.
