(MENAFN) Emirates’ President, Tim Clark, said that the UAE carrier does not intend to acquire a stake in Australian Qantas, reported Gulf News.
Clark said that he only discussed codeshares issue with Qantas’ CEO, Alan Joyce, adding that if the two firms did codeshares, then the deal has to add value to both carriers and to sustain longevity in a commercial arrangement.
He noted that at the current time, Emirates has around 73 frequencies in Australia, and it might increase them to 84.
It is worth noting that Emirates has codeshare with several carriers, including Philippine Airlines, South African Airways, JetBlue, Thai International and American Airlines.
