(MENAFN) Etihad Airways rejected a decision by the German federal aviation authority’s to disallow the Abu Dhabi carrier to codeshare on some Air Berlin flights, calling it unprecedented and incorrect, Gulf News reported.
In an earlier statement, Air Berlin said an application for Etihad to codeshare on 34 flights had been rejected by the German regulator (LBA), affecting 46,000 bookings.
Etihad, which has codeshared with Air Berlin since 2012, owns a near 30 percent stake in the cargo. The Abu Dhabi state-owned airline said the decision by the LBA “will be detrimental to German consumers.”
“Etihad Airways challenges the LBA’s decision to reverse earlier approvals for 34 existing codeshares ” these codeshares have been consistently approved by the LBA,” an Etihad spokesperson said.
