Etihad Cargo records 13% increase in H1 revenue

(MENAFN) Etihad Cargo, the freight division of Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways, reported a 21 percent increase in transported cargo to a record 175,000 tons in the first half of 2012 compared to a year earlier, Arabian Business reported.

The company said cargo transported increased by 30,000 tons from the same period last year, resulting in a 13-percent increase in revenue.

Earlier this month, the freighter reported strong second-quarter results for 2012, with tonnage up 22 percent to 90,000 tons, resulting in 11 percent increase in revenue to USD183 million.

The airline said it achieved eight of its 10 best ever performance days last month, with an average of 2,000 tons per day transported through its Abu Dhabi hub.

Earlier this year, Etihad Cargo placed orders for two more Airbus A330-200F freighters, bringing its total new freighter order book to four.
