(MENAFN) UAE’s Etihad Cargo announced that it will re-launch the Lagos service on November 15, with a weekly flight to the Nigerian city, reported Arabian Business.
The freighter service will be complemented by the addition of 16 new interline destinations across West Africa that would connect Lagos with Libreville in Gabon, Pointe-Noire in Congo-Brazzaville, Malabo in Equatorial Guinea, Douala in Cameroon, Accra in Ghana, Abidjan in Cote d’Ivoire, Nouakchott in Mauritania, Conakry in Guinea, Bamako in Mali, Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, Cotonou in Benin, Monrovia in Liberia, Freetown in Sierra Leone, Port Harcourt in Nigeria and Kinshasa in Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Abu Dhabi-Lagos service will fly on Thursdays and will be operated via a Boeing 747-400F freighter, with a capacity to handle 124 tons.
Etihad Cargo, a division of Etihad Airways, noted that its current freighter service to Africa goes to Johannesburg, Nairobi, Khartoum, Benghazi, Tripoli, Cairo, Casablanca, Addis Ababa and Eldoret.
Last month, Etihad Cargo carried 32,500 tons of freight, representing a jump of 15 percent from 2011’s same period, and a gain of 2.2 percent from September.
