(MENAFN) A statement issued by Etihad Airways said that the deal with Virgin Blue was going to be canceled after attempts by Qantas, Australia’s largest carrier, to block the deal, Gulf News reported.
Qantas Airways complained to Australian Competition and Consumer Commission following calls by Virgin Blue Holdings Limited to fast-track its alliance with the UAE’s national carrier.
V, Virgin’s Australia subsidiary, had agreed to enter into a code-sharing deal with Etihad, which would include frequent-flyer programs and coordinated pricing and scheduling programs.
