(MENAFN) Etisalat’s group senior vice president of corporate communications, Ahmed Bin Ali, said the company is still considering expansion in Iraq, reported Arabian Business.
Bin Ali’s statement comes in response to scrapping the company’s bid to buy a stake in Zain’s Saudi unit, as that deal would have granted Etisalat access to the Iraqi telecommunication market.
Bin Ali said that the operator is studying opportunities in Iraq and added that if the company finds a good return on investment, it is willing to expand strongly in the market.
It is worth noting that the scrapped USD12 billion bid would have granted Etisalat access to further markets such as Jordan, Morocco and Iraq.
