(MENAFN) Etisalat, the UAE telecommunication company, said that due to scam calls received by its subscribers, the company sent an alert through messages to the clients warning them about such calls, reported Emirates 24/7 News.
The company added that those who receive calls or text messages about winning cash prizes from Etisalat, should report these calls to the nearest police station quoting in the complaint an eight digit number provided by the company.
It also said that during the past two years, unknown callers from inside and outside the UAE sent messages or called hundreds of Etisalat subscribers and told them they’ve won cash prizes from the company and in order to claim their prizes they had to send a particular amount of money.
It is worth noting that Etisalat controls more than eight million mobile phone lines out of the nearly eleven million subscribers in the UAE. The rest are Du subscribers.
