(MENAFN) France-based technology firm Thales signed a contract to provide integrated supervision, telecommunications, security, and automatic fare collection system for the Lusail Light Rail Transit System in Qatar, Arabian Business reported.
The new tramway will consist of four lines, covering 32km, and serving 37 stations. It will be the backbone of public transportation for the new city which is located about 23km north of Doha.
“Thales’s systems will ensure high-level services such as real-time information, flexible and up-to-date contactless ticketing systems, optimal security of passengers and complete integrated supervision solution,” Thales said in a statement.
