(MENAFN) A number of students form UNRWA’s Khan Younis Training Centre (KYTC) were able, under siege, to develop a car in the same style of those designed for the Formula 1 races, according to UNRWA’s website.
As the siege over Gaza has lasted for five years so far, the majority of car parts had to be created from recycled materials, while the engine was borrowed from a Honda CBR600F4i 2002 bike.
The leader of the students-team who worked on the project is nineteen-year-old Osama Al Othmani. He said that the team hopes to be able to collect enough funding to travel the car to the prestigious UK Formula Student competition, one of Europe’s biggest student motor-sport events.
The team proudly stated that the last part to be added to the car is a label that reads: “Made in Gaza”.
