GCC aluminum production tops 5mn tons in 2016

(MENAFN) The five aluminum producers EGA (UAE), Alba (Bahrain), Ma’aden Aluminum (Saudi Arabia), Qatalum (Qatar) and Sohar Aluminum ( Oman) produced 5.22mn tons of aluminum in 2016.
Accordingly, during last year GCC aluminum smelter and downstream have been going through disciplined productivity improvement and cost cutting initiatives.
At the same time, preserving its leadership position of high environmental standards, compared to the rest of the world.
In addition, GCC aluminum production constitutes 10 percent of the whole world production and is one of the key economic drivers for the Gulf area.
