GCC exports to Japan surge by 40% in 2011

(MENAFN) The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) said that last year, exports of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) countries to Japan surged by 40 percent to around USD141.1 billion, reported Emirates 24/7.

The organization added that the biggest Middle East exporter to Japan was Saudi, with the value of its exports growing to USD50.3 billion, compared with USD35.7 billion a year earlier.

It also said that in the period, Japan’s exports to the GCC fell to around USD19.56 billion, from USD20.02 billion in 2010.

It is worth noting that the GCC’s trade surplus with Japan jumped by about 49.5 percent in 2011 to USD122.5 billion, from USD81.9 billion.
