(MENAFN) The healthcare sector in GCC has increased over the past few years, driven by the need to emphasize healthcare service capacity constraints and enhance the quality of health infrastructure.
The main reasons for the demand for healthcare are the rise in the region’s ageing population, increase in lifestyle risk factors and the growing of non-communicable diseases.
Recently, the spending on healthcare has grown over the last years; the level of expenditure is still low when compared to different indicators is made with global community.
Moreover, amid the GCC nations, Bahrain has the highest healthcare expenditure as a percentage of GDP of 5 percent for 2014, while Qatar’s spending to GDP was 2.1 percent.
