(MENAFN) GE Aviation won a Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) order of 193 F110-GE-129E engines to power 84 new twin-engine Boeing F-15SA aircraft, Arabian Business reported.
The order follows earlier RSAF order for 156 engines to power 71 re-engined F-15S aircraft. GE Aviation will start providing the engines next year.
More than 3,000 F110 engines have been ordered worldwide since initial selection by the USAF in 1984, making it the best-selling engine for Lockheed Martin F-16C/D fighter jets.
Separately, the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a possible military sale to Saudi Arabia for follow-on support and services for the Royal Saudi Air Force at an estimated cost of USD850 million.
