(MENAFN) The General Manager at the Horizon International Flight Academy, Mansour Al Faheem, said that the academy signed a deal with Austria’s Diamond Aircraft to purchase 5 new Diamond DA42 NGs, reported Gulf News.
Al Faheem said that the flight training academy is working on expanding its fleet of 3 Diamond DA42s and 13 Cessna 172P single engine aircraft.
The academy is also planning to train more pilots from the UAE in order to meet the increasing demand for pilots in the market. About 4,000 civil pilots are going to be needed over the next 5 years, Al Faheem said.
Al Faheem added that Horizon is currently capable of training a number of 200 pilots every year. It is however seeking to raise the number to 600 pilots per year by 2016.
